National Museum Wales

ECR is proud to provide National Museum Wales with an integrated, modular EPoS solution supporting operations with 19 terminals across all eight sites throughout Wales. These include the National Museum Cardiff, St Fagan’s National History Museum, the National Slate Museum, the National Wool Museum, the National Roman Legion Museum, Big Pit: National Coal Museum, the National Waterfront Museum, and the National Collections Centre.

The client was in need of an Electronic Point of Sales system that would underpin and support the growth of the company’s retail, online and catering income streams. The new system would go on to drive turnover, margin and profit, requiring new tills at all retail outlets, internal catering outlets and museum welcome desks, supporting 9 shops across the Museums and in-house catering.

The proposal

ECR proposed LeisurePoS – the very latest software solution, developed through 2021. LeisurePoS would provide a highly detailed analysis of sales, stock and trends along with indepth analytics data, enabling maximum profit.

Moving away from a completely fixed hardware hardware, on-premise solution, ECR deployed the new cloud-based and mobile system that will support varied and scalable operations including pop-ups, secondary retail spaces and flexible, expandable retail environments. Complete with mobile hardware LeisurePoS enables the client to view data and run reports from any location.

Outcomes

In addition to managing sales, the system enables capture of customer data at the point of purchase, which will help our client to further build brand loyalty and repeat sales. The newly flexible  trading  across  fixed  and temporary trading spaces is delivering benefits including

  • Indepth business analysis and forecasting.
  • Integration with third party systems and platforms.
  • Less stock clearance, increased profit and effective ordering and replenishment thanks to the sophisticated stock inventory management.
  • Omnichannel retailing for future growth.
  • Ability to grow customer relationship management, increasing customer loyalty and spend, enabling linking into specialist CRM solutions.
  • Front of house staff now have confidence in a robust, reliable and simple to use system with tailored functionality to support their roles.

The system encompasses the Museum’s online shop which also integrates with central stock holding and all associated management functionality.
